Sen. John Albers Meets with Apple, Google Executives Sen. John Albers recently led delegation members to Silicon Valley to meet with Apple and Google executives to discuss digital education opportunities in Georgia, following the passage of Senate Bill 89 earlier this year. SB 89, the Digital Classroom Act, was passed during the 2015 Legislative Session and signed into law by Gov. Nathan Deal on May 6, 2015. This bill encourages all instructional material purchased by a local board of education to be in a digital or electronic format by July 1, 2020. Each local board of education is also encouraged to provide students with their own laptop, tablet or other wireless device, or allow them to bring their own to the classroom. Sen. Albers was accompanied on the visit by fellow Senators Marty Harbin, Fran Millar, Judson Hill and Bruce Thompson.
